US: Nearly 40,000 Verizon employees go on strike

Almost 40,000 Verizon employees in the US went on strike over contract negotiations today (Wednesday), Reuters reports.

As the workers protested around the country, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders joined the rally in Brooklyn.


The strike is being led by the Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. It is one of the largest strikes the United States has seen in years.
