Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, on Thursday addressed the Security Council and called on the world’s nations to come together as a united front in the war on terrorism.
Speaking at a special session focused on countering terrorism, Danon decried the hypocrisy of the Security Council, which has yet to condemn the wave of terror attacks in Israel over the past six months.
“There is nothing natural about a terrorist shooting young parents in front of their terrified children,” he said, adding, “Terrorism must never be excused or justified, it must be fought.”
The Ambassador called on the world powers to unite together to fight terrorism.
“We are committed to sharing our knowledge and expertise,” he said. “When we stand united we can defeat global terrorism and stop those who seek to undermine our way of life.”
Danon last month demanded the Security Council condemn terrorism, after three major terror attacks took place in one day in Jaffa, Jerusalem and Petah Tikva.
While it has failed to condemn terrorism, the Security Council has continued to single out Israel. In recent months, the Council has passed 12 resolutions against Israel and not one against terrorism.
