The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) called on world leaders to condemn Monday's bus bombing in Jerusalem, which wounded 16 people.

“We deplore the horrific attack in Jerusalem, the first bus bombing in a long period of time, and an act of terror that brings back nightmares for many in Israel,” said Jonathan A. Greenblatt, ADL CEO, and Carole Nuriel, Acting Director of ADL’s Israel Office.

“Violence directed at civilians is never justifiable, and we hope this outrageous attack will be appropriately condemned by the international community.”

“We also expect world leaders to make their voices heard by loudly and swiftly denouncing this act of terror," they added.

A bomb exploded on the #12 bus in the capital Monday afternoon, injuring bystanders and passengers on an adjacent bus.

Terror groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad praised the bombing, but did not take responsibility.

In praising the attack, Hamas said it was “a natural response to Israel’s desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque (Temple Mount - ed.)."
